Eugene Harold Krabs, better known simply as Mr. Krabs, is a scarlet sea crab who is the owner of the Krusty Krab and consequently the employer of both SpongeBob SquarePants and Squidward Tentacles. Mr. Krabs is extremely greedy, selfish, and literally obsessed with money, treating it as if it were both alive and divine. He will do very nearly anything to obtain money, no matter how small the amount, usually with no regard to the safety or well-being of others or even himself. His arch-nemesis and business rival is Sheldon J. Plankton, who was his best friend in their childhood, but now constantly attempts to steal the Krabby Patty Secret Formula. Mr. Krabs has a daughter, a sperm whale named Pearl, whom he often tries to pamper, but in as cheap a manner as possible. His employees hold widely differing opinions of Mr. Krabs, with SpongeBob treating him almost as a father figure, while Squidward despises him.
In FusionFall, though he makes his residence in Bikini Bottom, Mr. Krabs has also been installed as the figurehead of the Stellar Corporation by the corrupt mayor of Dark City, who finds it easy to manipulate Krabs due to his insane greed, and can be found in that community as well. The mayor has recently ordered Krabs to make a series of investments in a mining project, which Krabs is loath to do, both because he believes the investments are doomed to fail and because he has formed an emotional attachment to the actual money he is supposed to be spending.
Back in Bikini Bottom, Mr. Krabs is hindering Sandy Cheeks in her heroic attempts to get rid of the Fusion Matter there, and has tricked Patrick Star into wrecking all her gear, using the resultant chaos to turn a profit.
Mr. Krabs becomes involved with Darwin when Mr. Krabs loans him a large sum of money in order to pay for fortifications for Elmore; if Darwin does not pay what he owes, Mr. Krabs, as head of the Stellar Corporation, will shut down the power in Elmore.
Mr. Krabs also becomes involved with Thomas when he offers a large sum of money for an ingredient to be found at the Chum Bucket. After the player obtains the ingredient for him, Thomas tells the player to give it to Mr. Krabs, who claims that his money bag was stolen and that he cannot pay for the ingredient — though he takes it anyway. It is eventually revealed that Krabs was simply avoiding having to pay.
