Nickelodeon Characters refer to characters originally or primarily created or produced by the Nickelodeon Animation Studio.

Although Nickelodeon bills itself as "the first all-kids network," having been officially launched in 1979, the network was relatively slow to add original animated programing. In its early years it aired mostly imported cartoons such as David the Gnome, The Little Koala, The Little Prince, Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics, Maya the Bee, Jim Henson's Muppet Babies, and The Care Bears. Nickelodeon's in-house original animation began with the creation of three series in 1991: Doug, Rugrats and The Ren & Stimpy Show. In 1992, Nickelodeon founded Games Animation to produce animation, including the studio's first fully in-house series, Rocko's Modern Life. In 1998 the studio was renamed the Nickelodeon Animation Studio and produced (often in partnership with other animation studios, notably Frederator. Omation Animation Studio, and Klasky Csupo) many of the network's most popular animated series, including SpongeBob SquarePants, The Fairly OddParents, Jimmy Neutron, and Hey, Arnold!.
